Synopsis:
I Wanna Go To Los Angeles is a short film that narrates, with sensitivity and power, the journey of Maria — a young dreamer, black and university student — who decides to achieve a great personal milestone: her first international trip. The destination? The iconic city of Los Angeles, symbol of cinema and possibilities.

However, along the way, Maria is faced with obstacles that go far beyond logistical or financial difficulties. The narrative stresses the idea of ​​“self-effort” as the only key to success. While her supervisor Suzi insists that determination is enough to achieve anything, the film reveals with subtlety and depth how structural inequalities — of race, class and gender — also shape access to dreams.

Sensitively directed by Juh Balhego, the short had its premiere at the Gramado Film Festival, where it won the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Executive Production. Since then, it has toured important national and international festivals, being recognized for its current, engaging and necessary narrative.
