Bactéria Filmes is a production company that makes original content, based in Porto Alegre, Brazil, that has been bringing fantastic stories to the world for over 15 years!

ABOUT US

Bactéria Filmes was founded by Pedro de Lima Marques, a filmmaker who dreamed of producing fantastic content. In 2014, Daniela Israel joined the production company, sharing that same dream. Together, they combined their areas of expertise: Pedro took charge of directing and visual effects, while Daniela handled executive production and business management. From that point on, the company began a journey defined by innovation in audiovisual production.

With a PhD in Cultural Manifestations and a degree in Audiovisual Production, she is a partner at Bactéria Filmes, where she led the company to win over 30 awards. She was the first woman to preside over SIAV (the Audiovisual Industry Union of Rio Grande do Sul) and is the founder of FAMES (Audiovisual Forum of MG, ES, PR, SC, and RS). As a university professor, she received the Laureate Recognition Program – LATAM, and has spoken at TEDx. She works as a director of documentary series and animated feature films.

Pedro de Lima Marques

Pedro de Lima Marques holds a Master’s degree in Creative Industries, a postgraduate degree in Cinema, and an MBA in Innovation. Marques has a background in Graphic Design and over 20 years of experience in the audiovisual sector. A film director, visual effects artist, and founder of Bactéria Filmes and FornoFX, he is also a member of the Brazilian Academy of Cinema.

Throughout his career, he has directed various projects, including TV shows, documentaries, animations, and feature films. Internationally recognized, he has won over 15 awards worldwide. In 2022, he was awarded Best Visual Effects at the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro for the film Contos do Amanhã.

Additionally, over 30% of our scripts have been written by black individuals, while the national average is only 2%. We continue producing for all screens and formats, with a commitment to maintaining diversity as a non-negotiable and everyday value.

Comedy, action, suspense, musical, sci-fi, horror and fantasy are all part of our catalog, which spans live action, animation, and even games.

Culture, art, fashion, design, and life stories are our focus. Our goal is to bring to the screen and present to the world a unique view of Brazil, that goes beyond beaches and big cities. Our fiction feature films and documentaries, both series and films, capture and highlight images, popular manifestations, and the tensions of contemporary society.
