Faced with the scarcity of marine fish and the low salinity levels of recent years, the fisherman is condemned to an endless wait.

Synopsis:
Each season, a crew of artisanal fishermen in southern Brazil watches for the Atlantic tide to breach the Lagoa dos Patos, the massive freshwater body upon which their lives depend. But as saltwater intrusion falters year after year, the marine fish that once separated feast from famine have nearly vanished. Trapped in a purgatory of waiting, the fishermen drift against their own fates, suspended in a rhythm where time only turns upon itself.

Rebojo It is a documentary directed by the duo Denise Marchi and Daniel Almeida that explores the daily lives of an artisanal fishing boat crew in southern Brazil as they await the annual influx of saltwater from the Atlantic Ocean into the Lagoa dos Patos—the vast freshwater body from which they derive their livelihood.

Featuring testimonies from Luis Fernando Stermieski Ferreira, Darci Luis da Silva Garigman, Joilson Duarte Borges, José Francisco Alves, and Roger Castro Vargas, this documentary is a production of Bactéria Filmes, co-produced by Troposfera, with associate production by Forno FX, Fleet, and Bunker Sound Design.
